UzuHealth is a software service which provides end-to-end healthcare services from symptom to cure. With a legacy of over 15 years, Arya Hospital has been actively providing quality healthcare across the Northeast in India. This extensive experience combined with medical data gleaned from patients enabled the team at Arya to identify some of the key issues faced by patients while trying to get access to quality healthcare, that being Lack of First Mile Access, Standardization, Engagement & Information. Moreover, the impact and difficulty of the issues increased proportionately the further the distance from main cities and urban areas. Thus, a team comprising of doctors, engineers and business consultants was formed, spearheaded by one of Arya Hospital’s directors, Rahul Sarma, under the banner of a new startup called Healbot Services Private Limited. The sole mission of this startup was to utilize technology to resolve some of these issues and mitigate others while creating a sustainable business model around it.
The solution was UzuHealth, a mobile and web-based application which would be integrated with the different services offered by a hospital as well as other healthcare service providers to provide patients with a smooth, guided healthcare experience. UzuHealth, which translates to “Easy Health” in Assamese, provides a single, easy-to-use platform to its users to access healthcare services such as doctor consultation, laboratory tests, emergency services etc. Each user on the platform is also assigned a personal healthcare counsellor who will guide them each step of the way, right from detection to treatment to post-treatment care, and help users make the right medical decisions for themselves or their loved ones.
UzuHealth is a novel healthcare service in the sense that unlike other similar aggregator services which provide a modular, disjointed experience with no link between the different healthcare service providers or any quality control, UzuHealth instead is tightly integrated with its quality network of partner hospitals, laboratories and other healthcare service providers which results in a seamless and smooth experience for its users, whereby users can easily track the progress of their healthcare journey as it happens and the majority of complicated work related to their treatment is handled by the backend system itself without any intervention required whatsoever by the user.
Born to first generation entrepreneurs, Rahul Sarma has been involved with the healthcare industry from an early age, seeing his parents transition from being government employees, with his mother being a doctor and his father a civil engineer, to full-time entrepreneurs with the establishment of their first hospital. Witnessing first-hand the hard but ultimately, satisfying life that came from starting something of your own, Rahul was determined from an early age to become an entrepreneur as well. With a background in I.T., he founded his first startup in 2014 right out college, which provided business and marketing consultancy services for its clients. A year later, he joined his parents in Arya Hospital, a public limited company with over 900 shareholders, as an I.T. consultant and eventually, transitioned to being a director in order to give a technological uplift to the hospital’s core services. It is during this period, after numerous discussions with doctors and other health experts, that the idea for a universal healthcare app came up and UzuHealth was born.
